Sedona is a nonbinary artist from Sonoma County, California. Their preferred pronouns are “whatever you see fit”, as they do not care what you call them and do not like to conform to standard gender stereotypes or labels. Sedona is 27 and is on their way to completing an associates degree in art, as well as one in environmental studies. Sedona is very passionate about the environment, sustainability, holistic living, plants and biology.
In addition to their love for the environment, Sedona is also very passionate about social injustice, advocating for human rights, minorities, socialism and sticking it to the patriarchy. You will see some of this political advocacy woven into their art, especially their most recent pieces. Sedona has a big heart and has always brought strong emotions through their artwork as a way to cope through their own struggles. Creating artwork that captures raw emotions is a consistent theme in their work, as you’ll see subjects of mental health struggles, love, queerness, and the gentleness of the world throughout their creations. Sedona also has a comedic side to them, as you can see through some of their less serious, earlier pieces of art. Satiric, dark comedy is something that reins throughout their work as well.
Sedona’s inspiration comes from their own personal experiences, as well as what they engage with on a daily basis. Nature, plants, animals, and seeking out peace and serenity are big influences. This comes from their passion for being outside, looking closely at the world around them, appreciating the small things in life, and spending lots of time in oceans and forests. The world’s current events also influence the more political art, as they hope to raise awareness of the hardships in the world throughout their work.
Sedona has been drawing ever since they can remember. It has always been their go-to hobby, as they always had a sketchbook in hand as a kid. Sedona’s first art class was a manga drawing class when they were 15, and even briefly taught younger children the basics of drawing at the studio where their class was. Sedona loves creating art of all kinds, but is affluent in illustrations, acrylic painting, character design, and abstraction. They are familiar with watercolor, some graphic design, charcoal, and landscape imagery. Sedona hopes to one day create a large public mural and envisions their artwork will make its way across the globe eventually. What they hope for the most is to leave viewers with a lasting impression through their creations, leaving people thinking and feeling something that will linger on long after they initially view it.
